A tumbler is something you carry everywhere, so the stickers needed to be small, bold and instantly readable on a curved surface. I started from the feeling of water and bubbles. The letters are built from inflated, rounded forms, thick pill-shaped strokes and perfect circles, with every corner softened until the word looks puffy and weightless, like foam or soap suds. The dots of the Arabic letters became little floating bubbles scattered around the word, so the type feels like it is bobbing on the surface. I drew the letterforms myself, rather than using an existing font, so that every curve could be tuned to the sticker shape and to the product's friendly, rounded personality.
Each sticker is die-cut with a layered outline, a pale outer border and a darker inner stroke, which makes the word pop off whatever it's stuck on and gives it the look of a classic sticker. They come in different colourways that echo the collection, an ocean blue, a fresh olive green and a lavender purple, so you can match a sticker to your tumbler or deliberately clash it. The green version has an orbit ring around the word with four-point sparkles, as if the word itself is shining and clean. The purple version adds an illustrated character, who kneels and hoists the huge word overhead like a weight, a nod to the effort of drinking enough water. His grainy, flat shading ties him to the sticker style and gives the set a human touch. The stickers are free, fun and collectable, which turns a visit to the pop-up into something you can take away and wear. Putting them on a tumbler makes it personal, and it spreads the Mugi look across the city wherever the tumblers go. They are a small, cheerful way to bring people into the brand, and they extend the Māi collection beyond the product itself.
